Surplus Property and Vehicles
**THE SALE OF THIS SURPLUS PROPERTY HAS NOT YET BEEN SET BY THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN.**
The following properties, vehicles, machinery, and/or other items have been declared surplus by the Board of Aldermen. Each property, vehicle, and item is assigned an ID number, which can be found on a sign in front of the property or on the vehicle/machinery/item itself.
You can find the following information on each property below: (1) Property ID, (2) Parcel Number, (3) Last Recognized Address (if available), (4) Legal Description, (5) Recent Picture of Property (if available), (6) Map of Property (from Parish Tax Assessor).
Each property has an official Town of Jonesboro Surplus sign, with its corressponding ID, at its location.
Property maps are located at the bottom of the page in PDF format and correspond to Property IDs.
Vehicles, Machinery, and Other Items Information
At this time, there are no vehicles, machinery, or other items that have been declared as surplus.
The Town of Jonesboro will only accept bids for the below properties as sealed bids. A bid must contain the property ID and parcel number for the property the bidder wishes to bid on, the full name, address, and accurate contact number of the bidder, and must be signed by the bidder. This information must be sealed inside an envelope prior to submission. The exterior of the envlope must say: "Surplus Property Bid," the bidder's name, and the property ID. If a bid is being mailed, this information may be written on the backside of the envelope. All bids submitted are binding.
The minimum bid is set by an ordinance by the Board of Aldermen. At this time, there is no ordinance to set the minimum bid.
How To Submit an Official Bid
Bids must be submitted in-person at Town Hall or by mail: Town of Jonesboro, Surplus Property Bid, 128 Allen Avenue, Jonesboro, LA 71251. Bids are not accepted online, by email, fax, or through the on-site, after-hours dropbox.
Bid Opening Process
All interested parties are invited to attend to verify the veracity of the bidding process. The highest bidder of each property will be awarded the respective property upon execution of payment.
In the event two or more parties bid the same amount and are the highest bidders, these bidders will be contacted immediately and must submit new sealed bids higher than the original within one (1) business day. Of these new bids, the highest bidder is awarded the property. This process is repeated as necessary.
Terms of Sale
Note: These terms of sale will be established by a pending ordinanace and are subject to change upon adoption.
- Disposition of surplus property. Surplus property shall be disposed of by public, sealed bids. Bids submitted for a property are binding once accepted by the Town of Jonesboro.
- Filing fees and court costs. The party awarded the property shall assume any and all filing fees and/or other court costs necessary for delivery of the awarded property. Filing fees relating to the delivery of the awarded property shall be included in the fixed minimum price.
- Payment. Payment for an awarded property is due immediately once a bid is accepted and approved by the Town of Jonesboro. Personal check, business check, money order or cashier’s check shall exclusively be the form of payment. Credit shall not be extended to any interested party whatsoever.
- Guarantees and warranties. The Town of Jonesboro does not provide any guarantees or warranties for the properties described herein.
- Delivery. The Town of Jonesboro shall have thirty (30) days to deliver the sold property to the awarded party.
- Governing laws. The laws of the State of Louisiana, Parish of Jackson, Town of Jonesboro shall govern the terms of any sale related hereto.
The Town of Jonesboro will notify those with winning bids by phone call following the acceptance of the bids by the Board of Aldermen. (Those in attendance of the public meeting will not receive phone calls.) Individuals whose bids did not win will be informed in writing via regular U.S. mail.
**Note: NO BID IS OFFICIALLY ACCEPTED UNTIL THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN (1) ACCEPTS THE OFFER AND (2) APPROVES THE SALE OF THE PROPERTY TO THE BIDDER BY ORDINANCE.
